Rom Houtstra
comes from an entrepreneurial family. After graduating with a
degree in Corporate Law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, he
became a spokesman for over 400 businesses, (I.e. Crown
Packaging, Unilever, Philips & Heineken), in environmental,
marketing and legal issues. From there, he was offered a
position of supervising bidding procedures on construction
projects. After arriving in Canada, Rom owned, managed and
manufactured the "Tukit", a unique, patented, retractable truck
canopy, which was sold throughout Canada and the US. Rom has
developed strong negotiating skills through these and other
sales and marketing positions. His familiarity with immigration
matters became apparent when he worked for an immigration lawyer
specializing in business entrepreneur and family applications.
Looking fondly upon his upbringing in The Netherlands, Rom
recalls, "As a successful and established entrepreneur, my
father taught me that integrity, high ethical standards and hard
work were essential for being successful in life and business.
This and the ability to communicate with people from all walks
of life have helped make me successful in my career."
